Classes at Studio 15 Pilates

Pilates comes in
more than one shape.

You do not need to know the difference between a Tower and a MOTR before your first class. Start with what you need, and we’ll help you understand the rest.

New here? Start here

You don’t need to choose by equipment.

Start with your experience and what you need. We’ll introduce the springs, straps and Pilates terminology as you go.

01

One Pilates. Different ways to practise.

So what is all this equipment?

A quick guide.

No Pilates degree required. Here’s what each piece of equipment does.

Pilates Reformer

Reformer

A moving carriage with springs, straps and adjustable resistance. It is probably the most recognisable piece of Pilates equipment.

Pilates Tower

Tower

A fixed surface with springs that can provide support or resistance through different movements.

Pilates Jumpboard

Jumpboard

An attachment for the Reformer that allows controlled jumping while lying down.

Pilates Exo Chair

Exo Chair

Compact spring-loaded equipment used to challenge strength, stability, balance and control.

Mat Pilates

Mat

Your body, gravity and the Pilates repertoire. Simple setup. Not necessarily simple Pilates.

Pilates Arc

Pilates Arc

Curved apparatus used to support, extend or challenge familiar Mat exercises and positions.

Pilates MOTR

MOTR

Compact apparatus combining balance, movement and adjustable resistance.

Pilates BOSU

BOSU

An unstable surface used to challenge balance, coordination and control.

The important bit

The prop is never the point.

Reformer, Tower, Arc, MOTR, BOSU or none at all. The equipment supports the Pilates work. It does not replace it.

Your first class

Here’s what actually happens.

You do not need to prepare for Pilates like an exam.

Look at the Studio 15 Pilates schedule and choose a time that works for you.

02

Arrive a little early

Give yourself time to settle in, find the studio and meet your instructor.

03

Tell us you’re new

Nobody expects you to know the terminology, equipment or choreography.

04
